On Sunday October 18 our guest speaker will be Rev. Myoko Laura Demuth. Myoko
began studying with Shoken Winecoff, abbott of Ryumonji Zen Monastery, in 1999, and was lay ordained in 2003. She was ordained as a priest in 2013 and received Dharma transmission in 2016. Myoko now co-directs the Decorah Zen Center and assists Shoken at Ryumonji.
Myoko lives with her husband, two dogs, a couple cats, a small flock of registered Bluefaced Liecester sheep and one very determined llama on an acreage in Northeast Iowa. She is a hand spinner and weaver, and teaches fiber classes in various folk art schools. She will be speaking on our relationship with animals.
