Rohatsu Week Practice

Updated: Nov 30, 2020

Rohatsu (a Japanese word meaning “the eighth day of the last month of the year”) Sesshin is held each year in Zen centers throughout the world to commemorate the enlightenment of Shakyamuni Buddha, which occurred when he saw a star at dawn on the eighth day of his retreat.

We invite you to join our Rohatsu week practice this year. We are sitting from 7:15 am to 7:45 am daily from Tuesday Dec. 1st through Tuesday Dec. 8th, except Sunday Dec. 6th, when we will offer our usual Sunday morning practice 8:30 to 10:30 am instead. On the last day, Tuesday Dec. 8, we will offer a chanting service after the sitting. The chants will be available on our Resources tab.

This is a joint program of Bird and Bell Meditation Group in Cheyenne, WY, and Prairie Mountain Zen Center.
